Thank you for visiting the home of the Oklahoma State University trumpet studio online. The OSU trumpet studio is under the direction of Associate Professor Dr. Ryan Gardner. This website was designed with the following goals in mind:
- To inform fans and friends of the OSU trumpet studio of past, present and future activities and performances.
- To provide prospective students information about joining the OSU trumpet studio. Our studio is continually looking to grow and improve and is actively looking for new members. We hope that this website will be informative and help you in your efforts to apply to OSU, the OSU school of music, and our trumpet studio.
- To keep in contact with OSU trumpet studio alumni. The OSU trumpet studio believes strongly in networking with our past members in order to build relationships and help maintain a strong tradition of excellence.
- To keep current OSU trumpet studio members updated on news and upcoming events.
- To promote the individual members of the studio.
- To promote ensembles involving members of the studio.

Congratulations to the OSU Trumpet Ensemble for a terrific performance and rave reviews at the 41st International Trumpet Guild (2016) in Las Angeles, California.
Graduate Assistant Justin Weisenborn was offered a position in the US Air Force Heritage of America Band in Virginia in August 2016.
Congratulations to the OSU Black Trumpet Ensemble for winning the large ensemble division of the 2016 National Trumpet Competition in Columbus, GA. OSU had 3 trumpet ensembles advace to the semi-final round. Graduate student Justin Weisenborn won the graudate solo division as well.
Congratulations to the OSU Trumpet Ensembles for placing first in the small trumpet ensemble division and third in the large trumpet enesmble division at the 2015 National Trumpet Competition in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. OSU had 15 students advance to the semi-final round of this competition representing 5 divisions.
Best wishes to Senior trumpeter Nick Doutrich as he begins his graduate studies in trumpet performance at Southern Methodist University.
Cleon Chai represented OSU at the 2015 Round Top Music Festival in Round Top, Texas.
Alumnist Aaron Jensen performed with the Colorado Symphony in the Spring of 2015.
Chris Reeder has been named Director of Bands for Tonkawa Public Schools.
Sean McKinney has been named Director of Bands for Dewey Public Schools.
Alumnist Matt McCormack performed at the 2015 Miami Music Festival in Miami, Florida.
We are proud to announce that both of the Oklahoma State University Trumpet Ensembles advanced to the 2015 National Trumpet Competition Semi-Finals. Nick Doutrich, Cleon Chai, and Natalie Upton will compete in the Undergraduate Solo Division and Randall Self and Lorenzo Diaz will perform in the Graduate Solo Division. Concurrently enrolled high school senior, Ian Mertes will represent in the High School Solo Division. We are also exceptionally proud of the OSU trumpet alumni who advanced and look forward to seeing everyone in March!

Congratulations to the OSU Trumpet Ensemble for a terrific performance and a second consecutive standing ovation at the 38th International Trumpet Guild (2013) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Congratulations to the OSU Trumpet Ensemble Orange and Nick Doutrich for advancing to the finals of the 2013 National Trumpet Competition in Fairfax, VA. OSU had 10 students advance to the semi-final round of this competition.
A special kudos to Nick Doutrich, winner of the OSU Concerto Competition. Nick performed a riveting version of the first movement of the Peskin Trumpet Concerto in April 2013.
